Brief information of CSPB project ,  Phase II :

Project Name: Child Sensitive Social Protection in Bangladesh (CSPB) Project - Phase-II.

Duration of the project: July 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020.

Project cost (in lakhs of rupees) Total: 4069.00 lakhs.

                                     GoB: Rs. 140.00 lakhs.

       Project Assistance (UNICEF Bangladesh): Rs. 3939.00 lakhs.

 The overall purpose of the project is:

By 2020, we will be able to take balanced measures to reduce violence, abuse and neglect of children and take necessary steps to remedy it. To this end, specific funds have been allocated for 26 districts and 11 city corporation areas of the country through this project.

Specific objectives of the project :

By 2020, UNDAF will create a balanced environment for the development of child-friendly social protection programs for 500,000 children and community members in the districts.

The project objectives will be achieved through the following activities:

  • Provide Conditional Financial Assistance (CCT) to orphaned and socially disadvantaged children.
  • Child Helpline-1098 Orientation Meeting.
  • Training on Children Act-2013.
  • Provide Basic Social Service Training (BSST) and Professional Social Service Training (PSST) to the officers and social workers of the Department of Social Services.
  • Capacity building training for social workers, social service officers, probation officers and child welfare board members.
  • Early selection of at-risk children through case management.
  • Software development and development.
  • Develop disability friendly services.
  • Improving the quality of service of the organization.

 

 

Project work area:

The project area includes 52 upazilas, 11 city corporations, 2 enclave areas and 25 government institutions in 26 districts of Bangladesh   .

CSPB Project Background 

The ARISE (Appropriate Resources for Improving Street Children's Environment) project, funded by UNDP, started in April 1999 and ended in March 2006 with the aim of providing benefits to socially disadvantaged children, especially street children. Subsequently PCAR (Protection of Children at Risk) project funded by UNICEF Bangladesh started from 1st April 2006 and ended on 31st December 2011. In continuation of this, CSPB project, Phase-1 started from 1st January 2012 and ended on 30th June 2017. After that CSPB project. , Phase 2 has been approved by the Ministry of Social Welfare for the period from 1 July 2017 to 31 December 2020 on 25/02/2018.

Background of Child Helpline 1096 :

With the financial and technical support of UNICEF, the activities of Child Helpline 1096 have been started from last December 2015 with the aim of ensuring the rights of the child and social facilities of the child as per the Children's Act 2013. A central call center of Child Helpline has been set up on the 7th floor of the Department of Social Services. The call center is open 24 hours a day, including public and weekly holidays.

Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina announced the auspicious inauguration of Child Helpline-1098 on 26 October 2016.
