The Vedic population is a small part of the population of Bangladesh. According to a survey conducted by the Department of Social Services, there are about 65,602 Vedic communities in Bangladesh. The nomadic people are known as the Vedic community. 99% of the Vedic population is Muslim and 90% is illiterate. Among the Vedic peoples divided into 6 tribes, Malveda, Sapuria, Bajikar, Sandar, Tola, Mirshikari, Baryal Sanda and Gain Veda etc. Their main occupations are small business, selling amulets and charms, treatment of snake bites, catching snakes, playing snake game, selling snakes, spiritual health care, trumpeting, selling herbal medicine, kabiraji, monkey game, magic show etc. In the financial year 2012-2013, through the pilot program, the program to improve the living standards of the Vedic and backward communities was started in 6 districts. However, it has started in Chandpur district in the financial year 2015-16. It is being implemented as a separate program from 2019-20 financial year. Goals and Objectives: Special allowance of Rs.500 per person per month for disabled and indigent persons aged 50 years and above. Increasing the skills of the working Vedic people through vocational training and bringing them into the mainstream of society by involving them in income generating activities; Post-Training Rehabilitation Assistance Rs. 10,000 / - (Ten Thousand). Place of Receipt of Service / Name of Office: Officers / Employees in charge of 08 Upazila and 01 City Social Service Office in Chandpur District Does. Interested persons are then required to apply along with the social service officer in the prescribed form. The received application is sent to the Upazila Committee in the form of proposal after verification and selection on the spot by the Union Committee. Hence After that the upazila committee selects the beneficiaries according to the allocation. The distribution of allowances is done by opening a bank account in the name of the selected person and transferring the allowance money from the central account to the selected person. Trade based training is provided to persons above 18 years of age. Post-training non-refundable financial assistance is provided to the trainees. Required time to receive services: 1. Within 03 months of application subject to receipt of new allotment; 2. 08 working days for old or regular fee / tax / incidental expenses: Free related laws / rules / policies: Dalit, Harijan and Vedic community living standard development program policy 2013 training; Vocational trades such as sewing, computer, beautification.
