Education stipend for students with disabilities

Education stipend activities for students with disabilities  

Education stipend program for students with disabilities has been introduced from the financial year 2007-08 to establish the constitutional rights of persons with disabilities and to assist poor, helpless, disadvantaged children and adolescents in getting education. Initially, the monthly stipend under this program was Rs.300 at primary level, Rs.450 at secondary level, Rs.600 at higher secondary level and Rs.1000 at higher level.

Chandpur Sadar upazila has 225 beneficiaries in the fiscal year 2020-21. At present Rs. 750 is being provided at primary level, Rs. 800 at secondary level, Rs. 900 at higher secondary level and Rs. 1300 at higher level. In the last one year, almost 100 percent success has been achieved in the distribution of disability education stipends.

Methods of service delivery (in short):

Students with disabilities who have been identified by the survey and are registered with the Department of Social Services and studying in an educational institution recognized by the government and whose average family average annual income is maximum 36,000 / - are required to apply along with the concerned Upazila / City Social Service Officer Disability education beneficiaries are selected after screening according to the policy. After that the bank account of the selected disabled students is opened by withdrawing the stipend money in the name of the legal guardian by informing the head of the educational institution or the guardian. The stipend money is officially distributed by informing the head of the family and the head of the educational institution of the disabled student who has received the stipend by fixing the place and date of distribution of stipend money.

 

Time required to receive the service :

Beneficiaries are selected within 3 months of receiving the new allocation.

Allowance is transferred within 08 days as regular beneficiary.
